The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Sree Narayana Nursing College functions as an integral part of student life, aiming to instil a sense of social responsibility, national integration, and community engagement. Established under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the NSS was launched in 1969 with a vision to involve students in nation-building activities and foster their holistic development. Sree Narayana Nursing College actively participates in NSS activities, emphasizing health-related community service and leadership in healthcare.

The main aim of NSS at Sree Narayana Nursing College is to create a strong sense of social responsibility and community service among nursing students, shaping them into well-rounded healthcare professionals and responsible citizens. It encourages students to develop a spirit of volunteerism and contribute to the well-being of society, particularly in healthcare settings.

The NSS motto is “Not Me, But You,” symbolizing the essence of democratic living and the necessity of selfless service. This motto aligns with the nursing profession's core values, emphasizing the role of nurses as compassionate caregivers dedicated to the well-being of others.

  1. Encourage students to understand the problems, needs, and issues of the community, particularly in the field of healthcare.
  2. Promote the development of leadership skills among students through participation in community service and health education.
  3. Foster an attitude of selfless service and concern for public health, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
  4. Organize healthcare awareness programs such as immunization drives, health camps and sanitation initiatives to address public health challenges.
  5. Strengthen unity among students and the community by promoting national integration and cultural diversity.
  6. Encourage students to take part in plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and sustainability programs.
