The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Sree Narayana Nursing College functions as an integral part of student life, aiming to instill a sense of social responsibility, national integration, and community engagement. Established under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the NSS was launched in 1969 with a vision to involve students in nation-building activities and foster their holistic development. Sree Narayana Nursing College actively participates in NSS activities, emphasizing health-related community service and leadership in healthcare.
Aim
The main aim of NSS at Sree Narayana Nursing College is to create a strong sense of social responsibility and community service among nursing students, shaping them into well-rounded healthcare professionals and responsible citizens. It encourages students to develop a spirit of volunteerism and contribute to the well-being of society, particularly in healthcare settings.
Objectives
Motto
The NSS motto is “Not Me, But You,” symbolizing the essence of democratic living and the necessity of selfless service. This motto aligns with the nursing profession's core values, emphasizing the role of nurses as compassionate caregivers dedicated to the well-being of others.
Logo
The NSS logo is inspired by the giant wheel of the Konark Sun Temple of Odisha. The wheel signifies progress, dynamism, and the cycle of creation and preservation, resonating with the objectives of NSS. The logo represents the role of NSS volunteers in driving positive change and maintaining a balance between self and society. At Sree Narayana Nursing College, this symbol is a reminder of the nursing students’ commitment to serve the community and promote health and well-being.
Through various NSS activities, the students of Sree Narayana Nursing College engage in health awareness campaigns, rural health camps, environmental conservation, and many more initiatives, contributing to both community welfare and their own personal growth.
